This is the first little painting in my Badlands Collection. A 20 x 20cm canvas in a black floating frame that measures 24 x 24 cm. I wanted to create something dark, moody and atmospheric and of course with some tree work in pen and ink over the top. The fluid art effects in the base of this painting looks like dense, dried clay reminiscent of The Badlands, a type of dry terrain where softer sedimentary rocks and clay-rich soils have been extensively eroded. Characterised by steep slopes, minimal vegetation and high drainage density. Ravines, gullies, buttes, hoodoos and other such geologic forms are common in badlands. (Courtesy of Wikipedia).
