Hemlocks by Julie Vatcher. As with the Bougainvilleas, I was inspired by a recent trip to Rhodes these Hemlocks were growing on the side of the road. I thought initially they were elderflowers, thank goodness I didn’t pick one as hemlocks are poisonous! These paintings depict a silvery blue sky with the sea in the distance, giving way to the dry scratchy grass in the foreground. Only metallics have been used in the fluid art background, which really does give such a glow to the whole painting. The hemlocks are hand painted.
