Peonies by Julie Vatcher. They say every painting sparks the idea for the next painting (well, I do anyway!). Following on from my previous set of Peonies these are a little less abstract but still conceptual using a combination of fluid art techniques. I always remember a painting hanging in my grandmother’s house of some Magnolias in a vase against a very dark background, maybe that’s what gave me the idea for this set of Peonies. A bright gold vase sits against a dark background, using teals, greens and turquoises with lovely fluid art effects. I have been looser with brush strokes to bring a more painterly look, with thick impasto paint applied in places with a palette knife. The finished results of this set of Peonies are exactly what I had in my mind’s eye. To buy this painting click here
