‘Winter 2’, using a few cool colours, the wispy sky reflects in the imaginary water, which isn’t there as it’s just white negative space but it is amazing what your minds eye puts in. All that is needed is a few suggestions of the trees reflected and your imagination can do the rest. This painting is again full of subtleties, from the silver used in the sky to the silver glaze over the reflections. The ‘land’ through the centre has some wonderful effects from the craggy rocks to the distant myst over the horizon. It’s a barren landscape but full of complexities and details that make you have to look that little bit closer…
